Relentless in our strive for excellence

Our School Uniform

We all believe that a school uniform is important for the following reasons:

  • It looks smart and gives a sense of belonging
  • It eliminates social problems caused by latest fashion choices
  • It contributes to a feeling of pride within our school

We ask that all children wear the uniform and we encourage them to maintain a good standard of clean and tidy dress in school.

Our school colours are Navy, Black/Grey and white. These colours can be complimented by The Flying High Academy logo.

Our school uniform is as follows:-

White polo shirt or white blouse/shirt

Navy sweatshirt or cardigan

Navy zip up fleece

Black or Grey skirt, black or grey trousers, black or grey pinafore dress (leggings are not permitted as school uniform – they are permitted as  PE uniform)

Plain, black shoes, boots or trainers: completely flat and enclosed so that children can be active and run safely during breaktimes.

Light blue checked dress/playsuit in the summer (optional)

Long hair should be tied back when appropriate. Pupils should not have dyed hair.

Nail polish and make up is not acceptable for Primary age pupils

Earrings are permitted but must be small studs

Bracelets, necklaces and rings are not safe to be worn in school by pupils and are not permissible other than for religious reasons

For reasons of Health and Safety, it is important that no jewellery is worn during P.E.

Our school has a duty to make sure that the uniform we require is affordable, in line with statutory guidance from the Department for Education on the cost of school uniform.

We understand that items with distinctive characteristics (such as branded items, or items that have to have a school logo or a unique fabric/colour/design) cannot be purchased from a wide range of retailers and that requiring many such items limits parents’ ability to ‘shop around’ for a low price.

We will make sure our uniform:

  • Is available at a reasonable cost
  • Provides the best value for money for parents/carers

We will do this by:

  • Carefully considering whether any items with distinctive characteristics are necessary
  • Limiting any items with distinctive characteristics where possible
  • Making sure that arrangements are in place for parents to acquire previously owed uniform items

Previously owned uniform will be available for any parent/carer to take at school events/school fairs. A range of previously owned, free uniform will be available throughout the school year for everyone, should they need it. Please speak to Georgia Sergeant or a member of the team in the school office should you need more information about this.
