Maths

At FHAL, we use White Rose Maths to support the teaching and learning of mathematics across the school. The White Rose approach is built on the belief that every child can succeed in maths when they are given the right opportunities to develop understanding, fluency, and confidence.

White Rose Maths follows a ‘small steps’ mastery approach, carefully sequencing learning so that children build secure number sense and a deep understanding of key concepts before moving on. Lessons are designed to encourage reasoning, problem-solving, and discussion, helping children to make connections and explain their thinking.

By using White Rose resources, we ensure that all pupils experience a consistent, high-quality maths curriculum from Early Years through to Year 6. This supports children in developing the knowledge and skills they need not only for success in school but also for applying maths confidently in real-life situations.
