Keeping My Child Safe
At The Flying High Academy Ladybrook, keeping children safe is at the heart of everything we do. We take all our safeguarding responsibilities extremely seriously. We know that children can be vulnerable in different ways, both online and in the real world, and it is our duty to protect them.
Our staff are trained to:
-
Understand what can make children and families more vulnerable.
-
Recognise the signs that someone may be at risk.
-
Take swift and proportionate action if they have any concerns.
This includes safeguarding against risks such as radicalisation and extremism, female genital mutilation (FGM), forced marriage and honour-based violence, child sexual exploitation, bullying, and online threats. We closely monitor changes in behaviour and attendance so that we can act quickly if needed.
We believe that safeguarding is most effective when home and school work together.

All concerns are taken seriously and handled sensitively.
Online Safety
Children today spend much of their lives online. We teach pupils how to stay safe, make good choices, and use technology responsibly. We also support parents to help manage online risks.
Useful resources for parents:
-
ThinkUKnow – advice about staying safe online
-
NSPCC NetAware – guides to apps, games, and social media
-
Internet Matters – practical help with setting controls and managing screen time
-
Childline – support for children and young people

Safeguarding in School
We build safeguarding into our everyday practice by:
-
Teaching about healthy relationships, respect and safety in PSHE and assemblies.
-
Running anti-bullying workshops and awareness events.
-
Hosting e-safety sessions for pupils, staff and parents.
-
Encouraging pupils to speak up if something worries them.
Support for Families
We know that children thrive when families are supported too. We can help signpost parents and carers to services such as:
-
Mental health and wellbeing support
