Maths

We teach maths using a mastery approach which is supported by 'Maths No Problem' workbooks.  This means that we focus on deepening children's understanding of maths concepts rather than moving onto bigger numbers!

Number & Place Value

By the end of Year 1 children should be able to:

  • Count to 100 forwards and backwards, starting from any given number
  • Count, read and write numbers to 100
  • Count in multiples of 2, 5 and 10
  • Given a number, be able to say one more/one less
  • Identify and represent numbers using objects, pictures and number lines
  • Use the language of: more than, less than, equal to, fewer, most, least
  • Read and write numbers from 1 to 20 in words
